Sarah Dickenson has worked extensively as a dramaturg and literary manager across the UK and Europe, with a particular focus on new writing. She has been Associate Dramaturg at the RSC, Production Dramaturg at the Globe, Senior Reader at Soho Theatre, Literary Manager at Theatre503, New Writing Associate at The Red Room and Scripts Assistant at the National Theatre.
She is currently working as in-house dramaturg at LAMDA supporting their new writing commissions and teaching their directors.
As Information and Research Consultant at writernet, she was one of the founder members of the Fence in 2003 and was responsible for the documentation and subsequent publication of the Janus project. She set up and ran the South West New Writing Network, bringing together writers and producers across the region to devise projects and policies to support the development of new work. Partners included Bristol Old Vic, Plymouth Theatre Royal, Ustinov in Bath, Cheltenham Everyman, Hall for Cornwall, Theatre South West, Exeter Northcott and Salisbury Playhouse.
Sarah worked alongside me at writernet for 8 years. As my closest working female relationship its difficult for me to explain just how much I learned from working with her. Most of my best ideas and work were to a greater or lesser extent also hers. Sarah combines a very bright mind with a compassionate approach and quietly goes about her business when others are more ostentatious in their careering. She is a great manager and communicator and has opened the door for a huge amount of new talent.
Since becoming a Mum she has also begun to spread her wings as playwright. Her Powerplay was at the Great Hall of Hampton Court until August 2017.
