Jonathan and I came together through a shared passion for Georg Tabori’s play The Cannibals, a black comedy set in Auschwitz, written in New York in 1968 and still not produced in this country. It is quite brilliant. We both want to see it done…and are exploring how to get it on for its 50th anniversary in 2018.
As associate at Az theatre I get the opportunity to think creatively with Jonathan about the projects he wants to bring to fruition, for example The Mappa Mundi project he is currently working on, to help shape his thinking and support the work into being. Jonathan’s belief that theatre is both international and local and his practice around interculturalism has been gently inspiring my work for some time.
